Why Art?

The power of freedom of expression

Many of us today understand the power of art in our lives, we are surrounded by it, from waking up each morning as we dress to going to sleep at night as we dream.  Each and every one of us have some form of artistic creativity lurking within us just waiting for that one moment for it to be realised.  And when it is realised, the pleasure it gives, maybe simple or brief, but it’s certainly a positive experience.

Imagine growing up in a life where there are no positive experiences, extreme poverty, vulnerability, neglect, limited opportunities, turmoil, loss of loved ones, conflict, natural disasters.  Any of these hardships can take a huge toll on any person’s life.

Now imagine being given the opportunity to escape for a few moments into the realms of positive artistic expression.  Drawing and painting, creating things from nothing but your imagination.  Encouraging artistic expression is proven to help heal emotional challenges.  Helping others, giving back helps position ourselves in our communities.  Helps belonging.  Our purpose is to help artists and in turn help others.
